Regional network’s action in the best interest of the children and youth

After the foundation of the network, in June 2011 in Belgrade, a conference entitled “Children living and working on the street OUR responsibility” ensued. National institutions’ representatives from Southeastern Europe were invited, including relevant ministries, civil society and international organisations, as well as experts from all around Europe. The aim of the conference was to identify efficient service delivery models for support and protection of children living and working on the street, in terms of prevention and decrease of violence risks, exploitation and abuse, including risk minimization of unsafe migrations of children and trafficking.

The aim of the programme “Complete protection of children living and working on the street in Southeastern Europe 2012-2014,” is to establish the before-mentioned models of support. The programme is centred on empowering the capacities of civil society organisations – direct service providers - to mutually develop the services, programmes and policies which will improve the quality of life of children living and working on the street in the region of Southeastern Europe.

The aims of the programme

Establishing a strong and functional regional network of organisations, direct service providers for children and youth living and working on the street, to provide efficient interventions through the exchange of experience and lessons learned when it comes to the region of Southeastern Europe.

Setting up a good quality service where trained professionals provide the children with support and knowledge on how to protect themselves, and also empower the children to take active part in activities aimed at them.

Creating coordinated regional and national strategies and platforms for advocacy, in order to improve the position of children and youth living and working on the street in the region of Southeastern Europe.
