The Regional network meeting

The sixth meeting of Regional network for children and youth who live and/or work on the street was help on 12th and 13th of September 2013 in Banjaluka (Bosnia and Hercegovina). On this occasion, 23 participants from 7 member organization gathered but also potential new members joined from Macedonia (Skoplje) and Romania (Bacau) joined. Regional network is supported by MFA from Norway and Save the children International.

During the meeting, potential new members presented their working experiences and services that are available to children involved in life and/or work on the street in their towns. Afterwards, current member organizations shared experiences related to their participation in Regional network, but also those related to their work in their own communities. Aims, structure and results of the Regional network were also presented to potential new members. In addition to this participants of the meeting had the opportunity to visit the Day care center in Banjaluka led by “New generation” from Banjaluka.

Press release regarding the Drop in sixth birthday celebration

On Thursday, May 9th year 2013, NGO  Centre for Youth Integration celebrated 6 years since the establishment of the Drop in cenre for children who  are working  and/or living in the streets. The Drop in centre birthday was celebrated by the children, beneficiars of Krfska 7a, employees and many volunteers, and was spent socializing and playing.

The Drop in was established in year 2007 as a project of the Center for Youth integration, and today it is defined as a service within the social welfare system – and in the Law on Social Protection, and in the Decision of the city of Belgrade regarding the rights and welfare services.

 It was initiated at the suggestion of the children who live and/or work in the streets, as a response to their needs.


International day for street involved children

International day for street involved children, 12th of April, has been established in 2011 by The Consortium for street involved children[1], leading international network devoted to promotion of street involved children rights all around the world.

This year, Regional network for street involved children, is celebrating this day for the first time. Members of Regional network for street involved children are organizations and institutions from 2 towns in Republic of Serbia (Belgrade and Novi Sad) and 5 towns in Federation of Bosnia and Hercegovina (Sarajevo, Tuzla, Mostar, Zenica i Banja Luka). Services, that these organizations and institutions provide, are crucial in network of services that are necessary on a local level so every street involved child could receive appropriate care.

We invite all interested citizens, media and governmental institution representatives, as well as civil society organizations to keep on supporting street involved children and in that way join the global campaign against child work, neglecting, exploitation and trafficking of children.

Regional network Declaration

Organizations members of the Regional network for street involved children, signed a Declaration with the aim to emphasis their own efforts in improving the lives of this specially vulnerable group. The initiative was started during the first Regional network meeting and the signing took place during the last few weeks because the Declaration traveled from one town to another in order to include all involved member organizations.
